History of Towing

History of Towing

An article in The Atlantic got me interested in creating this post.

Who knew that Chattanooga is the Birthplace of the towing industry!? It took one motivated man, dedicated to help improve what was at the time a service performed using a lot of man power, and taking up a lot more time and effort.

The need for towing services did not arise at the same time as gasoline automobile sales began. The first gasoline powered, USA built vehicles were commercially sold in 1896 by the Duryea Brother’s according to this article from About.com.

The main focus of this service are simple and efficient parking reservations.

Our service is easily accessible through a web and app based software. For a reasonable fee, anyone equipped with a computer, tablet, or smart phone will be able to go online and reserve a parking spot near their destination.

Unlike the UF parking decals, we guarantee exclusively reserved parking spaces. The fees are hourly which means parking spots can be rented for the duration of a class, or just as long as needed...

1952 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup Truck

General Motors’ first major redesign post-World War II, the Advance Design series was billed as a bigger, stronger, and sleeker design. First available on Saturday June 28, 1947, these trucks were sold with various minor changes over the years until March 25, 1955, when the Task Force Series trucks replaced the aging Advance Design model.

From 1947 until 1955, Chevrolet trucks were number one in sales in the United States.

While GMC used this front end, and to a slightly lesser extent the cab, on all of its trucks except for the Cab Overs, there are three main sizes of this truck: the half-, three-quarter-, and full ton capacities in short and long wheelbase.

1968 Chrysler Newport

Chrysler Newport

The Newport was a name used by the Chrysler division of the Chrysler Corporation used as both a hardtop body designation and also for its lowest priced model between 1961 and 1981. Chrysler first used the Newport name on a 1940 showcar of which five vehicles were produced.

For 1965, the Newport was redesigned on the then-new Chrysler C platform, shared withthe 300 and New Yorker, along with the Dodge Polara and Plymouth Fury. Styling mimicked the square lines of the Lincoln Continental and the 1964 Imperial while wheelbases increased 2 inches (5.1 cm) to 124 inches (310 cm) (wagons continued on the 122 inches (310 cm) wheelbase)...
